About Metronauts
Metronauts.ca is an open community of people from across the greater Toronto region (and beyond) who care about the future of our cities and the role transportation has in our lives.
Who are we?
Metronauts are everyday people who are interested in the future of transportation in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). We are concerned citizens from every walk of life who have chosen to take a role in shaping our cities.
What we are doing
We will be holding a series of events where we will be working with the knowledge, creativity and expertise within the community to identify and present creative solutions to transportation issues facing our region. Key personnel from Metrolinx (Greater Toronto Transit Authority) as well as other transportation organizaitons are being invited to these events and will participate on a level playing field with members of the community.
In addition to the events, we will be using this website to engage the community in defining the relevance, value and future of transportation for this region. Members of the different authorities are being encouraged to participate in these spaces so as to allow for a better transfer of knowledge, insight and understanding.

Why now?
The Government of Ontario passed legislation that created Metrolinx to improve the coordination and integration of all modes of transportation in the region. As such, Metrolinx is currently involved in an effort to develop a transportation plan that will improve quality of life in the GTHA. You can learn more about the Regional Transportation Plan by visiting their site.
How to get involved
The first step is to join the community here on metronauts.ca and/or attend an event in your area. By joining the community online you can participate in any conversations and even start a conversation or project of your own.
If you would like to help with planning of events or are willing to volunteer behind the scenes, please email wendy at remarkk.com.
Code of Conduct
Every member who joins the online community or attends an event agrees to the Metronauts Pledge. It is important that everything we create online and at the events is open and shared with the rest of the community and that we have a common set of principles guiding our behavior.
